Scientist - Computational Biology [m/f/d]

Your mission
With immediate effect, we are looking to hire a passionate Scientist – Computational Biology [f/m/d] into our Molecular Biology team. By closely working with biologists and biomedical experts, you will be responsible for the analysis of single-cell sequencing and molecular cartography spatial transcriptomics datasets.  

This is a full-time role, based in the company office in Monheim am Rhein but you will also have the opportunity to work with other company sites around the world.

Responsibilities: 
  • Analysis of bulk and single cell sequencing datasets.
  • Analysis of molecular cartography spatial transcriptomics datasets.
  • Multiparametric data analysis of mixed OMICs data.
  • Development and application of bioinformatics workflows for (spatial) transcriptomics data analyses.
  • Co-development of computational work-flows paired with wet-lab experimental data.
  • Data aggregation, interactive visualization, and statistical interpretation of results.
  • Ability to plan and execute wet lab experiments.
  • Participation and active contribution to group meetings.

Your profile
  • PhD in biology or bioinformatics, MSc is the minimal qualification.
  • Experience with the analysis of single cell RNA sequencing data using state-of-the art packages such as Scanpy or Seurat and custom scripts. Additional experience with other OMICs data analyses such as high-content-microscopy or proteomics data sets is beneficial.
  • Experience with data aggregation, database programming and handling as well as interactive data visualizations (dashboards) is desired.
  • Wet-lab experience with molecular biology techniques (especially with RNA), in situ hybridization, single-cell sequencing or spatial biology techniques is beneficial
  •  Experience with fluorescence microscopy and image analysis is beneficial.
  • Good German and English language skills.
  •  Proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as R or python. 
  • Experience with Quarto reporting or Shiny applications is a plus. 
  • Knowledge in image analysis routines / respective software packages or additional informatics tasks such as relational database design and usage is beneficial.
